A 30-year-old man from Ham Lake was killed with the car he was riding in crashed into a parked vehicle. The car accident happened early Saturday morning in Oak Grove. There were four people in the BMW involved. The parked car had no occupants. The driver of the BMW fled the scene after the accident.

Assisting at the crash scene, Sgt. Jake Rehling, St. Francis Police Department, noted there was no blood on the driver’s seat area of the BMW, nor any on the deployed air bag.

After unsuccessfully searching the area for the driver, Rehling was driving home about 4:13 a.m. when he saw a male walking on the side of the road at Lake George Boulevard and 221st Avenue.

The driver was apprehended and charged two felonies and a misdemeanor including criminal vehicular homicide. The other two passengers in the vehicle were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
